The Growing Use of Technology in Manufacturing

Technology is slowly creeping into every aspect of our lives, allowing us to do things that were mere science fiction ideas only a decade ago. Examples of these technological advances in the manufacturing sector are additive manufacturing (3-D printing), Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), robotics, remote monitoring systems and many, many more.

IIoT goes hand-in-hand with artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence, or AI, is being used in a variety of ways, including detecting whether employees are wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as well as for predictive maintenance. Predictive maintenance is a proactive approach. It takes a more real-time, data-driven approach to identifying the potential for issues very early on. Predictive maintenance with the help of AI, takes measurements from machine operations as they are occurring and uses this data to raise red flags when indications of a problem are noted.

The accompanying resource describes some of the innovative ways that the manufacturing industry is relying on these advances.

Horizon Forbidden West didn't disappoint! Seeing a lot of controversy over Aloy's face, she looks great! Can't wait to pick this one up, hope the PS4 doesn't hold back the next gen version. #HorizonForbiddenWest #PS5
